Send-off to Summer

While its felt like summer's been over for a while, since school started a few weeks ago, it wasn't officially over until just the other day. Seemed to go particularly fast this year for me, but I wanted to capture a slice of it here with a sketch of Kaitlin playing with one of her praying mantis friends. She's befriended quite a number of critters in our yard this summer, but none so much as the mantis. Could it be the millipedes she feeds them? Yum!

Happy Autumn all!

Great sketch. Yeah its been feeling Fall here the last week all this cold weather we've been having. It felt like summer today though. It was beautiful and warm out. I heard that we're getting cold front tomorrow so it might be nice and Fall-like for a while.

hey, man!

beautiful sketch! i never played with praying mantises when i was a kid--we were afraid of 'em! not because we were afraid of 'em, but because we had been told that they were 'protected' and that to kill one (accidentally or intentionally) was a $100 fine!!! a million dollars in those days! so we shunned them at all costs. too bad. they look like fun.
and, yeah, i was clinging to summer for as long as i could, but fall's moving in. at least there's halloween to look forward to...

Heck yeah, Halloween is just one of many pluses for the autumn! Guess I better get on the ball and do some proper autumnal sketches soon!
